Mission Or Ministry

Does a name or title change things or make a difference?

What am I doing? What are we doing as a family?

I have been asked this a few times and often wonder about it myself. Usually in the form of a complaint/prayer. Something along the lines of this: "Lord, WHAT? What do you want from me? Why am I doing this? No one is paying attention! No one cares! This is/has been a huge waste of resources....all the blood, sweat and tears! WHAT DO YOU WANT?!?!"

I don't know.

What I do know is this: I have to keep doing whatever this is we are doing. Even when I would rather not. I must keep going. And I do know each of us are on a mission, the same mission: sharing Jesus and the truth and goodness of Holy Mother Church with everyone we can. Bringing our different strenghths, skills, and personalities to do our parts in that mission, in our own unique ways. Individually and as a family unit.

A friend recently said something to me which I found both very sweet, yet strange, at the same time: "I really like your ministry."

It was a sweet compliment. However, ministry?

I am no minister. I am no evangelist. I am no preacher. I am no priest. And I certainly am no saint. I'm just a soldier....a piss poor one at that. Still, a soldier on mission in the greatest war of all time.

I'm just a catholic american man. A husband. A dad. A son. A brother.

I am a man that should be dead and hell. Yet I am not; thank you Lord.

I know the mercy, forgiveness, and love of Jesus.

I am an artist, a musician and writer.

Everything I have and am is because of Jesus.

Is this our ministry? Is that important?

I'm just trying to create beautiful things that honor our Lord, Our Holy Family and Holy Mother church. And share with the world all the great things that God has done for me. And have folks know how much our Great God wants to do for them.

I was saved for a reason. I have been offered the gift of redemption. I'm just trying to live that gift.

Is this my ministry? We can call it whatever, I find that much less important than me telling you:

JESUS LOVES YOU!
